New Visual Language

For the new brief I had to firstly research into Modernism and Post Modernism and at the same time create a range of work that explores the basics of the movements that related to the area of practice of my choice. The work that I create has to be an expression of the movement that I choose to do. In order for me to do that I need to understand the social and political concerns which influence both the movements. 

I need to submit designs for a broad sheet which should be based on my personal and original research from the start of the year, I need to include the edited versions of the following projects:

Type transcription

Earth artefact - Map final pieces

These are my final pieces of work. For my final pieces I decided to choose five countries which were America, Britain, Germany, Vietnam and France and from there highlight the locations within them. I wanted to go with a more simplistic approach with this piece of work and decided to take inspiration from the research I did and use them in my own style of work. I think the outcomes of my work are successful and I'm happy with the finished pieces.  

Experimental map research ideas

I thought the London underground maps would have been a great help and source of research with the work that I was trying to create, I think the design of the maps are beautifully presented and are straight forward but at the same time get across knowledge that is needed for the public.

Personal profile - Golden Record

For this idea I wanted to create my own personal record that involved my own selection of music and photos that meant something to me, to leave my own mark that maybe would describe my interests, you could say it would be an overall profile on myself. All of this information would be in binary code and encrypted onto my body itself including details about me, I would be the record. The record would also include Historical events, information on the human anatomy.

Illustrator and After Effects workshop experimental animation work

For this workshop we had to experiment with the first stages of animation, I didn't want to complicate the process of the animation by animating a full character so I decided to keep it simple and animate four black triangles just to get the basics down. 

I started off creating the base of this work by using two colours and a texture to create the background of this work. From there I added the four black triangles and started to experiment with the size, speed and rotation of the triangles. I think the outcome of this animation was successful and I learned a few things from this workshop. 

Type Transcription

For my three forms of typography I decided to use my Wacom Bamboo tablet and hand draw them all. I like the outcome of my typefaces because of the messy look of them, although that being said I do prefer the more clean and finished type faces that I've seen in other work. If I was to create more type faces I would definitely consider using another method and create a better quality of work.
